pump up the volume

As we age we start to lose facial volume. Dermal fillers are injected beneath the surface of the skin to add volume and fullness to the areas that have experienced volume loss. Fillers can be used to pump up the volume for cheeks, lips, and help decrease shadow or pesky wrinkles under the eyes. Dermal fillers can also be utilized for fine lines and wrinkles within the lower face. We often are asked what is the difference between wrinkle relaxers and dermal fillers? The big difference is wrinkle relaxers (tox) are designed to “relax” a patients facial muscles, whereas fillers are formulated to plump soft tissue that has experienced volume loss.

Get Prepped!

We’ve all heard the saying, it takes work to look this good. Our saying is, it takes prep, and Jen to look that good! Make sure to follow the pointers below before getting a filler treatment. By following the instructions below you can reduce bruising and swelling in the injection sites.

Before your appointment:

+ Avoid blood thinning over-the-counter medications such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, and Aleve for 1 week prior. If you are taking one of these over-the-counter medications, always consult with your physician in advance of stopping the medication.

+ Avoid supplements including St. Johns Wort, ginko biloba, primrose oil, garlic, ginseng, and Vitamin E for 1 week prior to the treatment. • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, or any "Anti-Aging" products for 3 days prior

+ Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal cream on the area to be treated for 3 days prior. • If possible, please remove all makeup prior to your appointment.

+ Do not drink alcoholic beverages for 24-48 hours prior to treatment.

+ If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores. Please let us know if you are prone to cold sores.

+ Let us know if you have had any major dental work, tooth abscess or are planning to have or have had major dental work recently (within 2-4 weeks)

+ Notify us if you have an allergic reaction to bee stings.
